Nothing Gold 03:22
Things of gold come to those who wait but surely nothing this good can ever stay. Vivid are the visions of carnage that repeat in my mind at inopportune times. Heard too many eulogies of young love and what never got to be, please don't let that be us. We need to at least have the option, take care of ourselves and remember to eat. I'll avoid driving when I'm tired, don't forget your meds, try to get more sleep. I'm so happy we could die and I would smile though it's over. I'm so cynical but I swear I'm trying at the moment. I remember that one bus ride home, the whole way you slept on my shoulder. We never got some time alone, maybe we will when we’re older. I can’t say what will happen next. And, that makes me smile. And, it brings me hope. I’ll build our house if you make it our home.

I see all your great achievements while you're watching me fall apart. I see all the beautiful things that I think you are. You're so perfectly composed, all I see are the photos of the side you choose to show. A world that doesn't change, one that fits inside a frame. Give us something that will last, before you edit out the bad parts. I'm dead weight, how can I equate? I'm just trying to escape these thoughts that I face almost every day. Your accomplishments put my own to shame. I know we're not all perfect, but I wonder what might lie beneath the surface. I look at you this way but never stop to think that a picture in a frame wont distill truth in the fact. I look at you this way but never stop to think that when you look at me, maybe you might feel the same.

Rose Lens 03:18
The cracks in the tarmac from the cauterisation, match the scars on your body and the lack of sensation. There’s a deer in the headlights as you steer from a stop sign. It’s the last thing you see before you smash through a slash pine. If you’re face down in the mud and blood has stained your innocence, what’s the difference between justice and just being like them? Lessons learnt by those who hurt others must be taught by a bigger person. As you pull the lever down and the ground falls away, all the villains are disappearing into the darkness of their mistakes. So, you’re hoisted above the crowd and they’re planning a parade. All the heroes do the outrage while the criminals escape. Scan the barcode of the shadows on the road as the valley of the gallows sits below. Is the evil that you know better than the one you don’t or just a friendly fire burning to a glow?

Blue Lips 03:19
I fall away 90 degrees, your neurosis drowning me. I kick and scream as I lose breath, all you do is push my head. And, I’m flailing. I feel my body failing as my lips turn blue, I disappear from view. You’re a surgeon and you can’t find the keys to your car, I can feel something pressing against my heart. You were young and ran away. You swore one day you’d build a home so we’d never know the same feeling of being alone. A family built on nothing but a sense of vanity, and we know it’s just a farce. A fantasy where the middle never ends. The cavity never heals, we just pretend. How your temper took its toll, all the times you lost control. Let the incidents unfold equal and opposite results.
